I donated blood again yesterday. It wasn't as bad as my other times. I brought a friend with me. ;) Haha, my friend doesn't do needles, so needless to say she wasn't in the bed next to me. No, instead she stood beside me the whole time, of which I was very grateful. I watched her when the needle went in and she watched the needle... Now, if you've ever watched a person, who doesn't like watching needles, watch a needle, it's kind of funny.
Oh yeah! There's something else too. It was eight degrees when I went in to donate. I was freezing! It was strange, I wasn't so much cold on the outside, but my insides were shivering! It was so weird! Anyway, when the lady checked my hemoglobin she pricked my middle finger on my right hand. Its suppose to be anywhere between 12.5 and some other number. Anyway, the first time I was at like an 11.4... yeah, I think it was because I was freezing! The second time I was at a 14.2. So yeah, they put me in the chair and my friend was sitting at the goodie-table with all the treats (and do you think there's some unwritten rule that there are ALWAYS to be nutter-butters present at a blood drive??). Well anyway, I mouthed the words "They pricked me twice!" and showed her my bloody fingers. It wasn't until both hands were in the air with the fingers pointed to the ceiling that I realized what I was doing. I quickly put them back in my lap and asked for a few bandaids.
Anyway, then I donated and everything was...for the most part, fine. I felt light-headed, but that was a given. I think the workers are just like, aching to put those stupid rags on me. I didn't feel THAT bad... But anyway. My friend was kind enough to point out the fact that the needle was "huge!" and that it was shaped like a shovel, pretty much AS it was going into my arm. Bleh! What am I going to do with her?
Hmm, I can't think of anything else blog-worthy to say...I got a cool Community-Blood-Drive Calendar, and a not-so-cool shirt. And a sticker. Those are always fun... I guess that's it, then.

Man, anytime you find out that someone is having a blood drive, you practically throw yourself onto the bed and shove the needle in your arm!
I am not so keen when it comes to giving blood. I will be able to next year, if I can gain some weight.
I think that I would like to give blood someday, but I am not sure....
by the way, who was your friend?
Oh, Please. I've only donated three times! And my friends name was Micah. She's awesome!
woot! way to go! I'm all for donating blood...but in below freezing temps?!?! I would have stayed home.
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
Good Girl Julia, but what else would we expect from you?
Your friend is too funny. I wonder if she would fit in your suit case.
Good for a blood drive, bad day at school, long trip with siblings....
She sounds like my kind for friend,
too cool.
I love you, have a great day.
I envy you, Julia....I can never give blood, because I had hepatitis as a kid........but speaking of BLOOD....thanks so much for the book....I am almost finished with it and already panicking at the thought of not being able to jump right into the next book. I guess my next trip to wal-mart will find me leaving with Stephanie Meyers 2nd Vampire novel. Who'd have thought that I would EVER get into something like that?!!!!
Wow, girl, you are too funny! But Jessica's right, you seem super-eager to donate blood. I feel the same way, actually, even though I've only done it once. And I have o have someone there with me, because needles are freaky-scary.
I found you, thank you!
Can't wait to see you.
Love,
Mom
